Fjord Horse International's mission is to host an international forum of member countries around the world

On this page you will find articles about breeding, use and regulations in the different countries where the beautiful Fjord Horse lives.

22nd - 23rd March 2014

It was a successful educational course at Norwegian Fjordhorse centre 22th and 23th of March with about 35 persons taking part.
The topics were about the General breeding goals for the Fjordhorse.
Tore Kvam , the leader of the Breeding program at Norsk Hestesenter, informed about the conformation and talked about breed character and type, conformation and muscular development, bone quality and leg position. Tore Kvam informed about the performance test for the 4 years old stallions and the veterinarian check of stallions.
Susan Hellum, a judger with long experience from many breeds, informed about the movement of the Fjordhorse. The horse should be well balanced, with good cadence as well as showing good forward movement at the walk and trot. The Fjordhorse should move freely and not close. Extravagant movement is not usual. The canter should be balanced and free with good forward movement.
We were looking at many horses, and found different examples of bone quality, leg position and movements.
