From the Fjord Horse Association of Great-Britain :

We were very proud of the fact that one of our fjord horses was chosen by magazine Horse & Hound to represent the London New Years Day Parade.
It was Merlin the Wizard / Peter Williams and Vietta.

Thank you, Lyn. We are pleased to share the story of this wonderful day, in two parts.

First report from our FAB FOUR
Stacey Jury & Jenny Trotman once again took part in the London New Years Day Parade under the banner of 'All the Queen's Horses' The Parade theme was '30 Magical Years'. Stacey & Jenny's theme was Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.
Their preparations started back in October with the first task being discussions on who would do what. The fjords became 'Wonka Bars' and the riders and other members of the group would be characters from the book - and so the preparations began... Making the costumes, rehearsing the fjords and riders, reminding the two fjords that London New Year's Day Parade is noisy and colourful.

Nice story from Great-Britain

Vietta Williams is taking a year out of showing due to a foot injury which is why things have been quieter in the Williams camp. Until now that is....
Vietta's stablemate Jornvic, has not meantime been idle. He has been judged as this year's Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural show's Foreign Breeds Champion which he won against stiff competition and in our opinion, deservedly so. This is what it is all about. Our quality fjords showing what they can do against other quality breeds.

Peter told us that the In Hand class was at the early hour of 7.45 in the morning which meant being up at 5 to the dreaded sound of rain on the roof. Anyone who has ever shown knows how long preparations for a show take and rain can turn the horse into a dragged out of the field specimen in minutes.
Peter said that after the judges first selection they were placed 4th behind a very nice Friesian stallion and a smart warm blood. They did their individual shows and were walking round, expecting to be placed as were when the steward raised his hat towards Jornvic . Peter said he just could not believe it. Ellie, his wife said his facial expression was priceless. Peter quotes ' The judge said that he was a prime example of the breed and that we should be very proud of how he has turned out. We found him 3 1/2 years ago as skin and bone and could hardly trot and Lyn traced his proper fjord passport for us.'

The Championship was held after the ridden class so they had a two hour wait in the rain, but it was certainly worth it the judge had no hesitation in calling Jornvic forward as Champion and chose the Friesian as reserve.

Just before the prestigious Edenbridge & Oxted show, Peter & Ellie to Jornvic to a little local show at Underriver just to get him out and about . They entered him in four in hand classes and he came home with 3x 1st places and 1x 2nd. What a fantastic 'out and about' day for Jornvic and the breed.

Sunday Jornvic goes to the Shoreham Heavy Horse show and later in the month he is off to the Sunshine tour Championships at Hickstead where he has qualified for four classes.

A huge 'well done' to Peter, Ellie and our star Jornvic. We wish you success at Shoreham and the Championships at Hickstead.

Article and pictures found for you on the facebook page of the Fjord Horse National Organisation of Great-Britain :

We asked the judges to submit favourite photos of the winner & three runners up of the Jennifer Murray Memorial Trophy Competition 2015. Below are their selections. The judges were impressed with the overall quality & importance of the shows these 4 attended.
In the case of in-hand classes, particular account was taken of class size, judge, other breeds in the class, consistency of good placing in this type of class class through the season & overall turnout of the entrant. In all quite a lot to live up to. Catriona is meticulous with regard to turnout so we know all four must have passed the 'dress test' before the quality of the winnings was even considered.
All four can take these results as a serious testimonial as to how well they represented the fjord horse in the UK in 2014.

WELL DONE AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. WHETHER YOU MADE IT TO 4TH PLACE OR NOT. THANKS TOO TO CATRIONA AND HER TEAM . WE WISH EVERYONE WELL FOR THE 2015 SEASON WHICH HAS JUST GOT UNDERWAY IN EARNEST.
